GO-DEEPER / DEEP DIVE MODEL RIVER RUNT SPOOKS
Pictured below are the Go-Deeper and Deep Dive models of River Runt Spook lures. The Heddon numbering for the colors changed in the late 1940's. When applicable, both numbers are listed with the later number in parenthesis. (Click on all pictures to enlarge).

Midget Go-Deeper River Runt Spook, series #D9010 with scooped blade: First appeared in 1940; exists in both 1 piece and 2 piece hardware; 3 1/4" long, 3/7 oz.; color shown - Yellow Shore Minnow - Heddon #D9109XRY (9010XRY). Printed on bottom: "Heddon Go-Deeper River Runt." Note that the Midget Go-Deeper was not marked 'Midget' and therefore the only way to tell the Midget from the Standard is by measuring the body length. |

Jointed Go-Deeper River Runt Spook, series #D9430 with flat blade: First appeared in 1952; only came in 1 piece hardware; 4 1/4" long, 5/8 oz.; color shown - White/red head - Heddon #D9430RH; Printed on bottom: "Heddon River Runt Spook Sinker." Of the Go-Deeper models, this is the only one not so marked. This lure had a slight buoyancy which caused it to sink slowly, given the extra weight of the lip. |
In the years following the sale of the original Heddon Company, the Go-Deeper lures saw some significant changes. Foremost was the blade which was attached to the lure with the same screws used to hold the front treble. The blade shape changed from the
right-angled flat blade to a 45 degree angled blade. Later, the blade shaped changed again to a oval. Besides the standard silver-colored blade, blade colors included gold, black, and colors matching the lure itself. All River Runt lures with these
types of blades were made starting in the 1960's to the early 1980's.
Finally, the name and series numbers also changed. Go-Deeper lures became "Deep Dive" and an additional 'D' was added to the series number to indicate same. Here are the varieties of River Runt Spooks in the Deep Dive models:
