LUM - Luminous

COLOR NAME: Luminous
COLOR CODES: 9LUM, LUM
RELATED COLORS: 2-LUM
LURE(S) PICTURED: River Runt Midget Spook Go-Deeper (D9019LUM), River Runt Spook Floater (9409LUM), Zara Spook II (X9240LUM), S.O.S. Wounded Minnow (170LUM)
DESCRIPTION: River Runt Spook: Solid off white body that appears and appears a bit grainy or looks 'rough'. When exposed to a light source for a time, the lure 'glowed' in the dark. Most of the older Heddon lures in this color no longer glow. Many but not all of Heddon lures in this color are marked on the belly with the letters "LUM". Luminous River Runts are rarely found in excellent condition due to the problems with paint bubbling. this is a cataloged color for River Runts from 1935 to 1943. It is also cataloged for the S.O.S. from 1928 thru 1946.

Starting in the late 1990's, Heddon (Pradco) began producing luminous baits for the Japanese market. These, such as the Zara Spook II shown, are a solid bone white color. When exposed to light for 5-10 seconds, the lure will glow-in-the-dark as a bright green color. Among the models that can be found in this new luminous color in addition to the Zara Spook II are the Big Bud (X9410LUM), Baby Bud (X9405LUM), Original Zara Spook (X9255LUM), Dying Flutter (X9205LUM), Rattling Zara Spook (X9255LUM-R), Magnum Torpedo Spook (X0362LUM), Chugger Spook (X9540LUM), Crazy Crawler (X9120LUM) and the Tiny Crazy Crawler (X0320LUM). Many of these are currently produced as of 2003.
