DESCRIPTION:

Wood version: Black spine with green scale body and solid white belly. Early examples in wood such as the Deep-O-Diver can have a gray or silver spine and there are known examples with a brown spine as well. (Note: Collectors often refer to those with a different color spine other than black as "Fancy Green Scale".

Plastic version: Black spine with green scale pattern on the sides with belly variations ranging from a silver scale pattern to solid white in later versionas.

The color code D was also called Dark Green, Scale Finish in early Heddon catalogs specifically for Heddon's Salt Water Minnow - Coast Series. This lure came in 4 sizes, numbered 1 thru 4 so a 5" length Coast Minnow in Dark Green, Scale Finish had the series number 1D.

A later version of this color dating to the 1970's has a silver body with a green scale pattern and white belly, as illustrated by the Lucky 13 Spook pictured above.
